Stick figures of Chloe, Andrew and Henderson with their camper parked in front of Blue Mountain beside the Susquehanna River. Playful Curiosity.

Rixe Valuation: What's it worth?

Short version: Not very much.

Rixe was a mid-tier manufacturer from West Germany. Although there are relatively few in the US, Rixe made many, many bikes. Note the stickers on most of them - over 2 million sold.

Valuation:

I am happy to give you an estimated value. Click on the Contact Page. Have pictures ready. Remember: It is just my opinion. The only opinion that matters is the person paying for it.

I rarely offer to buy bikes that I've been asked to value. If I do it will be a fair price, I have to live with and like myself.

General rules:

1. Men/Boys bikes are more valuable than women's bikes. Simply, women take better care of their things and so there are more women's bikes available.

2. Period accessories add value.

3. Kid's bikes are a specific market. If you find someone that collects them, they can be worth a little more but they can also be hard to sell.

4. Rust takes work and lowers value.

5. Clean the sucker if you really want to sell it. I hate the "barn find" excuse. If you can't even wash it, be prepared to be offered pennies, dirty pennies at that.

6. "But I saw one on ebay for 50 zillion dollars." So did I. Did they sell it? If they got 50 zillion dollars then you should list yours for 50 zillion too.

7. Time makes things more valuable. If you sell yours for more than the brackets listed, please let me know. I'll update the brackets.
